CPED is committed to produce graduates having solid foundation of computing systems design & development, and strong professional practices to adopt rapidly changing social and technological trends. A firmware engineer develops the low-level software found in home computers and electronic devices. They must be versed in both sides of the hardware and software interface and program efficient algorithms that will allow devices to operate both correctly and safely. Our faculty in the BS in Computer Engineering program have decades of experience working in robotics, aeronautics, embedded systems, and many other related fields. Computer Networks, Mobile Computing, And Distributed Systems

Some computer hardware engineers can advance to become computer and information systems managers. Most hardware engineers work in labs where they test different types of computer models. Employment of computer hardware engineers is projected to grow 2 percent from 2020 to 2030, slower than the average for all occupations. Digital Systems Lab is designed for the understanding of digital logic concepts and consists of oscilloscopes, digital trainers, digital multimeters, function generators, 8086 microprocessor kits and supporting accessories. Implementation of adders, subtractors, logic circuits,decoders, encoders, multiplexers, combinational circuits, sequential logic circuits, flip-flops, counters and registers also carried out in this lab. It also covers practical implementation of microprocessor and interfacing techniques.

Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering, software design, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microcontrollers, microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design.

A computer hardware engineer works on the research, design, development, and testing of the hardware components — such as chips, circuit boards, and microcontrollers — for computers and electronic devices. They must be knowledgeable of electrical and computer engineering principles and be able to analyze and solve problems. Without computer hardware and software, there would be no smart phones, DVD players, digital recorders and critical systems in airplane cockpits, modern cars, or computerized medical devices. As a computer engineer, your knowledge of computer architecture, digital electronics, circuits and digital communication will lead to innovations or bring about another information revolution. The computer engineering program covers vast areas such as VLSI, Embedded and Real Time Systems, Digital Image Processing, database management systems, software systems, computer control and robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
